One of the many things I have learned from being a Mommy is the art of Multitasking. Here are some projects I have been working on lately, in between baby, laundry, dishes, etc....
Sparkle shell pendants
Funky zebra print glass tile pendant (in progress)
Painting my wall ribbon holder (purple of course, left over paint from Miss P's room)

I watched this really fun/cute/encouraging vid the other day on creating art with your little one.
I have read a book about being a Mom and making time for art, and I have read a few articles online about creating with kids. I didn't come across anything about creating art with a baby until recently. I usually wait for P to be in bed before I can create something, but then nap/bed time ends up being the only time I have to get house things done. I have always thought about making art with Penelope but didn't really think it was possible, until I watched Leonie's video. So, we had our very first art session the other day and it was so much fun!
Here she is investigating the paint box.
We used Crayola Washable Kid's Paint. It is non-toxic so not a big deal if she does happen to get it in her mouth, which is inevitable, lol. There are other options, such as making home made paint with cornstarch & food coloring, or pudding & food coloring etc. Different types of fruits could be used too, blueberries etc. but the food coloring and fruit dyes WILL stain EVERYTHING. So I opted to go with something that is easy to wash off. After we were done I put her in the bath tub which is one of her very favorite things to do.
Here is the finished Masterpiece. Her color composition is fabulous! ;)

My hair is now blonde & pink. Every time I go to a new color, I (well, my Husband) has to bleach out the old color. Each time we do this, I always like the blonde and am tempted to keep it. I really like how it looks with the pink underneath. So, I think I will keep it and rock the blonde for awhile. It is probably a good thing to give my hair some time to rest anyway. All of this coloring has been hard on my hair. I keep it shorter so it's no big deal to get it trimmed. Soon as I have some time I will post a pic.
I received these stamps in the mail this week. I can't wait to create with these! I bought them on Etsy, they were such a great price too. I would have paid three times as much at a stamp/scrapbooking shop, or Michaels. I love online shopping.
For an early birthday prezzie, I bought myself a travel/purse water color kit.
I found it online here, also very reasonably priced.
It is very compact and fits perfectly in a purse or back pack. Great for painting on the go! This will be awesome to take with us on our travelling adventures.

We had a great time on our vacation in the Domincan Republic. After a 4 hour time difference, 7 hour plane ride and a 4-5 hour drive we are
finally feeling human again. The little one is still adjusting to her regular
sleep schedule so I have been pretty exhausted lately.
P had some good bonding time with her Auntie & Uncle. We have the best
travelling baby, she was well behaved on the plane ride there and back. I hope
it stays that way.
Tomorrow the hubby is taking P over to Auntie & Uncle's to watch the Super Bowl, I will have a few hours for "me" time, which
I am looking forward to. Maybe I can finally finish organizing my
office/workspace/studio.
This is what our day looks like today. A warm socks, cozy sweater, hot cup of tea day....

It's hard to believe that 2011 is over already, this time last year we were getting ready to have our baby, now we are preparing for her birthday party.
We didn't do much for the holidays this year, we didn't really have the time since we are renovating the basement to make it into a suite. Miss P just started crawling so we didn't want her tearing down any of the decor. On new years eve I was asleep my 10:30pm.
Our renter moved out so I have more room to store all of our extra baby junk, Miss P's room actually looks like a baby's room now, not a disaster zone.
In between baby time, cleaning time, etc. I have made a few new things.
After P's birthday party this weekend we will start preparing for our trip to the Dominican Republic. We will be visiting Puerto Plata. Very exciting!
